Probleme mit Handbremse (parking brake problems)

Im neu nach Deutschland. Gerade kam hier in der Nähe vom Ende des Augusts. Anyways habe ich eine 1988 Korvette mit dem L98 und 4 3 Übertragung. Im, der versucht, die Besichtigung hier auf dem Posten zu passieren, so kann ich meine dauerhaften liscence Teller bekommen. Mein Hauptproblem ist meine parkende Bremse. Es war fein, bevor ich das Auto verlud aber jetzt Gewohnheit mehr hält. Ive bekam das FSM Handbuch für mein Auto, aber einige der Schritte sind hart zu verstehen. Irgendjemand hat Erfahrung mit der parkenden Bremse??

Im stellte in Baumholder auf. Gibt es irgendwelche Korvette-Geschäfte in der Nähe die würden im Stande sein, mir hinauszuhelfen?

Is your parkingbrake locked at the grip or at the wheels? Or do you mean the par´king lock in the transmission?

I know an US-Car-Shop that has been east of Kaiserslautern, Dieter Wendt, on´t know if it´s still in Business, but you can try 06303 806451.

Hi and welcome to the german corvette forum.

If you are joining the US Forces you can ask at the junkyard inside the baumholder barracks(for civil cars) for information; maybe you will get assistance by them, eventually they are able to fix it.

If I am not wrong your 1988 Corvette has usually the parking brake assembly integrated inside the rear disc brake calipers, possible faults are seizing of the piston or the mechanical parts inside the caliper. Don't forget to check the cables, maybe they are seizing causing by corrosion.

The parking brake feels fine. Right before I shipped the car I had to make sure the brake worked and it did. But the parking brake is a little tricky on these cars so Im assuming someone messed it up while it was being shipped here. It doesnt feel like its locking up anywhere. It ratchets normally-but just doesnt hold the car in place.

Have you checked if the cables aren't seizing?
On the rear caliper is a lever where the cables are fixed to, let apply the parking brake by a second person and check at the calipers if the lever is moving for round about 1/2".
If not, the cables stuck inside their wrapping, maybe caused by corrosion during the shipping overseas in a container by ship.
If the lever moves, there is a fault inside the caliper.
Or does your Vette have seperate drum brakes for the parking brakes?

Oh... i thougt your car brake is locked....

Then maybe the cable is broken, or do you feel any force when you pull it?

I believe '88 was the 1st year for the discs in the rear for the parking brake that is. I plan on changing my oil this week so Ill have to look at it then since I plan on putting the car on a lift. The lever feels normal-I do feel tension so I doubt the cable snapped but Ill be sure to check.

Take a jack, lift the rear, block one wheel and let somebody turn the other wheel while pull the brake. When he feels no brake-force something may be broken, if he feels a brake then somebody kills the pads in my view
