Excerpt from Chevelles.com:
I am not positive, but isnt the 72 L-48 short block the same as the earlier ones. I had an L-48 in my 70 Nova that was 10.25-1 compression from the factory with 64 cc heads. I thought in 72 all they did was replace the heads with 76cc heads dropping compression. If that is the case, I would go with a 64 cc head and a decent cam and it will wake right up. When I did my motor for the Nova, I built a 10:1 short block to copy the L-48 and used 65 cc AFR aluminum heads and a .535/.550 lift hydraulic roller cam.

Flowteks und Summits kosten die Hälfte, ich wage zu behaupten, daß man bei street use einen großen Unterschied merkt. : https://www.summitracing.com/parts/flk-1.../chevrolet
