Tom Falconer schreibt dazu in seinem Buch "Collector's Originality Guide":
In VetteSpecs von Mike Antonick hab ich so auf die Schnelle nix gefunden, außer dass man 1993 das Konzept der ZR1 (bezüglich Mischbereifung) auf die normale Corvette übertragen hätte.

Zitat:"Externally, it was noticeable that the rear wheels were larger than the front, much like the ZR1 but not so exaggerated. Indeed, press releases suggested that this was to 'balance tractive efforts', but the 824 Z07 cars came with the rear-wheel size used on the front, too, and P275/40ZR17 tires all around. More likely, the smaller front tires and P255/45ZR17 tires mounted on 17x8.5 wheels were both a reaction to the problem of aquaplaning on very wet roads, while reducing frontal area and rolling resistance in the noble quest for better fuel consumption and a reduction in the corporation's average fuel economy."
