motor shaden - 6istgut - 02.05.2005 Hallo Leute! So wie get meine ZR1? motor ist müde. knock knock gerauch. vielleicht 2 pistons worn (pistons' skirts make noise because too much play). (compression test shows 2 cylinders bad). Motor war geoffnet bei Geoff Jeal. Heads looks ok (it does have heads ported - and it does have 4.10 rear end). Lingenfelter confirmed me this also: es war gemacht im '94. Ich hoffe zu haben eine "neu" motor bei ende von mai? mit 368ci. (6 liter) ohne Kats diese mal und vieilleicht uber 500ps (working this time! ). There is not enought oiling on the second gear at high rpm (5000 or more) and consequence is make stick together 2 gear& bearing & synchros. That happened to me second times, between I done 30.000km . Both times I ride in 5th at cca6500rpm & cca 275kmh . I exchange usually 2 gear , all bearings,synchro kit,oil seal &gaskets & cost me with work arround 2000EU. Jano, I guess that the blue tab is from mid'93 to '95 Zr1 years. I believe my Zr1 has a black tab transmission because she's an early '93 model year. And you can hear it: the noise of the straight cut gears in first gear is like in a WRC car (rallye): quite loud. The transmission is good (I hope... ) as the car now has about 55.000 kms. Jano, did you make any modification to your transmission to prevent it to break again? https://www.zfdoc.com About the rebuilt of my engine, it will be costy but after that, I will have quite a nice car and in good shape also.
