Das "National Corvette Museum" restauriert Zora's 74er Stingray
Zora Arkus-Duntov—the man who made Corvette the performance icon it is today—only ever owned one Corvette: this fully loaded 1974 Stingray. And now, the National Corvette Museum’s team is restoring it to its original condition.
Zora’s C3 came with a 454 big block, prototype wheels (which wouldn’t become a production option until 1976), and custom two-tone blue paint. He drove it for years before selling it in 1989. After his passing, it was donated to the Museum in his honor.
The restoration process has been extensive: the frame was stripped to bare metal and coated with anti-rust sealant, the suspension has been restored, and the engine has been rebuilt and is ready for installation. A true piece of Corvette history is coming back to life.

Erstaunlich, dass der Zacharias mit dem 7,4L LKW-Motor herumgefahren ist.
Der favorisierte doch lieber leichte und hoch drehende Smallblocks.
Aber vielleicht war das Auto auch so ein übrig gebliebener Entwicklungs-Prototyp,
die Felgen sprechen dafür. Der Schuster hat ja oft die schlechtesten Schuhe.

Und ich dachte, er hätte besonders die 73er gemocht , holt sich dann aber ne ordinäre 74er.

Er ging 74 in Rente und hat ganz pragmatisch die damals neuste Corvette mitgenommen. Ich errinnere mich an ein Interview mit ihm, in welchem er sagte, ihm genüge das satte Drehmoment des Big Block und der Komfort. Sportlich war gestern. Ich kann es ihm irgendwie nachfühlen.
